Digital 101 Lesson 3

memory cards...
the standard memory card for a pro is a Compact Flash (CF) and some even use Secure Digital (SD).  many consumer cameras use the SD cards.  a few things to know about memory cards:
never install or remove one while the camera is turned on.
always format them in the camera before use.
always number and date a card.  some say they have a two year reliable life.
never turn off a camera while it is still writing images to a card.
never fill a card completely, try to leave 10-15% free.
don't write stuff to a card from the computer and use it like a flash disk.
static electricity will zap a card in a new york minute.
