Great Day for Portraits

for a photographer, overcast skies are about as good as it gets when doing portraits outdoors. diffused light that's soft, great stuff.  that's exactly what i had until the second session arrived. light rain must have followed so it was time to move indoors.  here's an image from that senior session.  i think the black & white James Dean look really suits this guy and it would not have been any cooler if it was taken outdoors.  let it rain.

late night, better order a pizza

i spent today on location doing corporate photography for a large international company.  now it's time to edit and order several senior portrait orders.  no two days are alike, that's what keeps this job interesting.  tomorrow i will be working with another company.

once you get started

i had a great couple, a beautiful day and super locations, yes i would call that the triple crown of wedding photography.  we started at Eden Park and arrived at St. Rose with plenty of time to do all of the traditional photos before the ceremony.  After mass, we were all free to go straight to the reception and have a ball.  no wonder i have so many shots to work with.

monday morning blues

monday is download and edit (start editing) digital files day. it's one thing to shoot 500 to a 1000 images at an event and quite another to edit them. once they are narrowed down some, then it's tweaking time. a beautiful image is more than a straight shot out of the camera. it starts there but then it has to be manipulated to bring out some qualities or subdue others. even on a quad core mac this can become very time consuming.
thank God for coffee and don't forget to backup the files.
