Merry Christmas and let's pray for a happy new year

"on to us a child is born..."
i would like to thank all of you who helped support the studio through this recession.  it was challenging but with hard work and faith we made it.  2010 looks brighter already.  i have been working on new techniques and developing my style to keep pace with the changes in the market and tastes.  again, Merry Christmas.

do i have a life besides photography? you bet...

i took this photo but i should have been seated in the front row.  for several years i have been fortunate to serve as board member for the Fastiques Rod & Custom.  we're a street rod club that produces the Pumpkin Run Nationals each year.  the event is the biggest antique car show in the area and the proceeds go to charity.  although we are involved with many, our main charity is the Shriner's Burns Hospital for Children.  this past Sunday we gave them a check for $50,000.  to date we have given them over $600,000.  if your curious what i drive when not hauling camera gear,

Digital 101 Lesson 3

memory cards...
the standard memory card for a pro is a Compact Flash (CF) and some even use Secure Digital (SD).  many consumer cameras use the SD cards.  a few things to know about memory cards:
never install or remove one while the camera is turned on.
always format them in the camera before use.
always number and date a card.  some say they have a two year reliable life.
never turn off a camera while it is still writing images to a card.
never fill a card completely, try to leave 10-15% free.
don't write stuff to a card from the computer and use it like a flash disk.
static electricity will zap a card in a new york minute.
